Your first visit to Crown Isle Dental

Adults: start with an exam

Your comprehensive exam and cleaning are separate one-hour visits. The exam comes first so your dentist can assess your teeth and gums and discuss a care plan. Reception will help arrange your cleaning as a separate appointment.

The exam includes a review of your dental and medical history, digital X-rays, an oral cancer screening, and time to discuss the findings.

Under 18: one combined visit

For patients under 18, the dentist's exam and cleaning take place in one combined appointment. Tell reception your child's age when you contact us so we can explain how to prepare.

Before you arrive

• Bring your ID and dental insurance information, if you have coverage.
• Have a current medication list and your medical history ready.
• Let us know if you would like help transferring records or X-rays from another clinic.
• Plan to arrive 10 minutes early for any remaining paperwork.

Insurance and payment

We direct bill most major dental plans. Your insurer determines what your plan covers, and you are responsible for any remaining balance. Bring your plan details and ask reception about billing before your visit.

If you feel anxious about dental visits

Let reception know before your appointment. You can tell us what would help you feel more prepared, ask questions about the visit, and discuss your concerns with the dentist.

Nitrous oxide and oral sedation are available. Your dentist will assess whether sedation is appropriate and explain any preparation needed. Explore our approach to dental anxiety.

We are at 444 Lerwick Rd, Suite 220, Courtenay, on the second floor of the Crown Isle Professional Centre at Lerwick and Ryan Road. Take the elevator or stairs to the second floor.
